Website development

Cheap website development?

I'm not a fan of cheap website development. I'll take the time needed to do the task right, so I'm not inexpensive. But you'll probably save money by developing the right website the first time. I may also save money for you by recommending against using a technique or feature that I feel won't benefit your website.

Before starting work on a project, I like to make sure I'm a match for you and your project. The most important consideration is whether you'll be delighted with the result. That could mean that I bring in a specialist in database applications or Perl programming. Or it might mean that I recommend a different developer who has strengths that more closely meet your needs. Once your project is complete, another important consideration is choosing a Web host based on your hosting needs.

The monthly newsletter

Clients receive a monthly newsletter by e-mail. That newsletter is available on-line, too. Topics range from website management to spam prevention, with occasional looks at the future of technology. Past issues are in the archive.

Philosophical essays

Occasionally I write a philosophical piece. The topics are eclectic, to say the least. You may even find that one point of view is diametrically opposed to another. The articles are in the vault.

Your website must communicate and to do that, the text must be legible. If your audience consists mainly of 20-somethings, you can get away with light orange text on a bright yellow background or even with tiny dark blue text on black.

Some might argue that even this text is borderline, but a slightly less readable face can be used for small amount of accent text.

Keep your visitors in mind when you choose text sizes!
